De laatste als heks verbrande vrouw in de Nederlanden, in 1743. Toen er nog volop heksenprocessen gaande waren in de Landen van Overmaas.
Marie Ponts maakte deel uit van de familie Ponts, een familiezaak. Gegroepeerd rond de families Mathias Ponts te Hoensbroek en Bernard Beckx te Nieuwstadt.
Marie ging met haar zuster in mannekleren mee op rooftocht, ook hadden ze zakpistolen bij zich. De justitie maakte er een heksenproces van waardoor Marie als laatste heks in Hoensbroek op de brandstapel werd gezet. Het einde van een tijdperk.
