Gerard Petrus Fieret was one of the greatest photographic personalities in the post-war Dutch scene. With a unique and powerful visual language, he offers a surprising snapshot of the cultural revolution of the 1960s. His raw black-and-white photography is radical, original, and free of cliché. Book designer Willem van Zoetendaal provides an overview of Fieret’s oeuvre, including the photographer’s beloved themes: women, street scenes, children, animals, and self-portraits. The images are arranged in a flowing, rhythmic visual melody. The book is thus a valuable tribute to the “enfant terrible” of Dutch Outsider Art, and opens with an introduction by photography expert Francesco Zanot.
