Een boek over het leven van Paulus met een aanbeveling (voorwoord) van W. Muurling. Muurling was hoogleraar theologie in Groningen en wordt gezien als één van de representanten van de Groninger Richting.
De Groninger Richting ontstond omstreeks 1831 als theologische stroming in de Nederlands Hervormde Kerk. De voormannen waren allen hoogleraar in Groningen, waaronder ook de hierboven genoemde W. Muurling. Hun denken werd sterk beïnvloed door o.a. de Duitse theoloog F. Schleiermacher.
