Prachtig historisch kinderboek. Het is het jaar 1619. Judith woont boven de weverij van haar vader. Ze is dol op de mooie afbeeldingen op de stoffen. De patronen daarvoor worden gemaakt door echte kunstschilders en Judith droomt ervan later ook tekenares te worden. Maar dan verkoopt haar vader de weverij en hij begint een bierbrouwerij. Judith vindt het vreselijk. Tot overmaat van ramp haalt hij haar ook nog van school om de boekhouding van zijn bedrijf te doen. Judith is wanhopig. Zal het haar ooit nog lukken om tekenares te worden?
