Hans van de Waarsenburg (Helmond, 1943) debuteerde in 1965 als dichter met Gedichten. Zijn bundel De vergrijzing (1972) werd bekroond met de Jan Campertprijs. Van 1995 tot 2000 was hij voorzitter van het PEN-centrum voor Nederland. Hij is voorzitter van het tweejaarlijkse po efestival The Maastricht International Poetry Nights. In 2003 verscheen bij uitgeverij Wereldbibliotheek zijn bundel Waar de wegen waren.
