Dick Van Voren, eigenaar van de Plat-Food restaurants, heeft grootse plannen. Hij wil instant-voedsel maken en verkopen. Alle middelen zijn hem daarbij heilig: zwendel, omkoperij, kidnapping en zelfs poging tot moord. Via restauranthouder Kreuvett raakt Kiekeboe bij de zaak betrokken.
