When Christine takes up hang gliding, she becomes entwined in her friend Laurie's love affair with Katerina, a German adventurer. Katerina's disturbing nature puts his life in jeopardy when he flies his hang glider, and Christine, a psychologist, gives herself to support him. In so doing, she finds her human heart. The reader sympathises with the torments of youth, gets a taste of the thrills and spills of early hang gliding and is entertained by the good fellowship inspired by the birth of the sport.
