Rafter Crossing was a town building for an explosion when Mike Shevlin rode in. The cattlemen swore they'd close down the mines because they were poisoning the range water. The miners were stealing the high-grade ore that rightfully belonged to Laine Tennison. Laine hired Mike Shevlin to get her ore back.
