Spiritus in Romanesque Churches

imaginative interpretation of secret images

Description

The tympanum of Jaca's cathedral bears an engraved verse "P. Pater A. Genitus. Duplex Spiritus Almus". It shows that the Holy Spirit is double what we discover in the Roman manuscripts, in particular the books of Gregorian chant because the music was considered as a sacred work and the door towards the philosophy. The Spirit lived among Men, we can discover it carved on some Romanesque churches that have come down to us. A simple rule is enough: where is the Spirit? Pater A. Genitus. Duplex Spiritus Almus".
