Foreign language is becoming a necessity in education today. Nowadays, the importance of vocabulary acquisition in language learning is not deniable. Wilkins (1972) believed that ¿while without grammar very little can be conveyed, without vocabulary nothing can be conveyed¿ (pp.111¿112). The present study aims to investigate the effect of using lyrical music on foreign language vocabulary acquisition, and its effect on long-term retention in Urmia, Iran .
