Medialer Schmutz

Eine Skandalgeschichte des Nackten und Sexuellen im Deutschen Kaiserreich 1890-1914

Description

Around the turn of the twentieth century, scandals in the German Empire around the representation of nudity and sex in the media started to become more frequent. The regulations concerning what could be represented in the media and its broadcasting of sexual and moral norms became an increasing and more strongly publicly negotiated issue. For the first time, Christina Templin systematically analyses these scandals, covered in the popular media, with an analysis of medial processes of demarcation, the interpretive models created through these, and the dynamics which resulted from the conflicts. This study offers an important contribution to the history of sexuality and the media within the German Empire.
