Counselling Therapy for Clients under Rehabilitation

Kemunto Karani Machi, Bonface Shisakha Mmbaka

Description

This work was borne out from experience with clients at rehabilitation centres during my practicum. I discovered that many of the clients were experiencing psychological and social issues including stress, rejection, isolation, trauma and lack of family support. The counseling sessions provided me with an opportunity to interact with the clients, while encouraging them to move on with increased self awareness and willingness to cope with the issues. In the process of counseling majority of the clients were able to disclose their issues, accept and move on. This book shall go a long way in assisting practicing and prospective counselors to develop suitable counseling skills and techniques for handling a wide range of situations. Clients with similar issues will be able to read and develop an understanding of counseling and appreciate the role of therapists. Thanks to the Almighty God, and all who directly and indirectly contributed to the production of the work. I have also authored a book entitled 'Psychosocial determinants of Adherence to Antiretroviral Therapy.'
