Anna, convicted of murdering Captain Vasilyev is on her way to Siberia, Boris, who actually killed Vasilyev, escaped to Geneva, but tortured by his abandonment of Anna plans to return to rescue her. Darina, Vasilyev's widow, seeking revenge, joins the secret police to find Boris and Rosa, his twin sister.
Russia, 1906. The revolution of the previous year is being crushed by the Tsar. Trio Boris, Rosa and Anna have been separated as a consequence of their actions in 1905.
