Heino Erichsen invited the reader to walk with him as he looks back upon his childhood in Nazi Germany, his surrender as an 18-year-old private with the German Afrika Korps, his survival in POW camps in Texas and Kentucky, and his return to his broken country.
But the journey does not end there. It takes an unexpected twist when the former POW returns to the United States to begin a new life.
