Word Salad Days is a portmanteau construction combining 'word salad' with 'salad days'-i.e. a string of nonsensical juxtapositions characteristic of carefree 'baby-talk babbling'. A master-piece of this kind of writing is Lewis Carroll's Jabberwocky.
