Catherine grew up on a farm, and spent nearly half her life there. Her father was often traveling, buying and selling cattle, while her mother with help kept the farm going and cared for their children. With her family and community, Catherine experienced difficult economic times and the loss of her mother. Yet working together, with the support of family and friends, and a strong faith in God, Catherine and her family survived, and grew closer and more committed in ways we can truly admire.
Facing an arranged marriage to someone she did not love, and determined to escape the farming life, Catherine did not hesitate to take matters into her own hands. She eloped with a man who had no farm, and little financial resources-someone her father could not appreciate, but she could both love and admire!
Catherine's story recounts her childhood and youth, discusses her aspirations, family and married life-even relations with her mother-in-law. It's a charming story that triggers hearty laughs, knowing smiles, and a few tears!
