Ying Tan learned the value of perseverance, determination, self-respect and hard work at an early age. He spent his formative years growing up on a council estate in Farnborough, his parents working long hours at two jobs so they could eventually afford to buy their own home. Ying was raised in a family proud of their Chinese heritage, which helped him overcome racism whenever he encountered it. From his first job - a trolley boy at his local Asda supermarket - he went on to embark upon a business journey that led him from unpaid investment banking intern to one of the youngest Vice Presidents at Goldman Sachs. However, Ying was always an entrepreneur at heart, and he eventually left the banking world to found and become CEO of one of the leading mortgage brokers in the UK.
