This study is different from anything previously written about the history of the University of Southwestern Louisiana. It is a brief narrative survey of all aspects of Southwestern's history
inclusive of the founding of the Industrial Institute (1900), the educational growth of the Industrial's high school program (1900-1920), and the Southwestern Louisiana Institute of Liberal and Technical Learning, (1921-1960). The Southwestern Archives and Manuscripts Collection made possible utilization of original source material not previously available.
