My parents were missionaries when I was born, and we were given missionary books by the dozen. Many well-known missionaries were guests in our home, where we heard their stories firsthand and were inspired. This little book seemed to set an utterly impossible standard. It was, however, the same standard I found in the words of Jesus: If you want to be my disciple, you must give up your right to yourself, take up the Cross, and follow.
