These folklores were recorded and translated in 1961 to preserve the lore of the 17 elder Oklahoma Cherokees. They include a wide variety of folklore: talking-animal stories; tales of a dragonlike creature and other monsters; and accounts of little people inhabiting the hills of eastern Oklahoma.
