Ælfric’s Catholic Homilies convey mainstream Christian doctrine at the end of the tenth century. The second series draws on the works of Augustine and Bede to create forty sermons for use throughout the year. This is the first complete translation of the Catholic Homilies since 1844, presented alongside the newly edited Old English text.
