Humanism, English Literature, and the Translation of Greek, 1430–1560
Colley, John (Research Fellow
Description
This book challenges the assumption that fifteenth- and early sixteenth-century English literature was minimally affected by the rebirth of Greek scholarship in the Italian Quattrocento. English translations from Greek shed new light on the formal, political, and confessional agendas underpinning translation and humanism in early modern England.
